Your Last Resort Match: Planning Tennis Around Checkout
A final morning on court works best when the room, changing arrangements, bags and departure each have a confirmed place in the plan.

The last match of a resort stay has a different rhythm from the first. Your bags may already be packed, your room has a checkout time, and someone may be waiting to take you to the airport. A little coordination can leave room for a satisfying final hit without turning the afternoon into a race.
Start with two separate questions: when must you leave the accommodation, and what can you use afterward? The answers may be different. Then build the court booking around the arrangements you have actually confirmed.
Check the checkout time for your accommodation
A hotel's departure time need not apply to its villas or cottages. Kiawah Island Golf Resort's FAQ, checked September 18, 2026, lists noon checkout for The Sanctuary and 10:30 a.m. for villas and homes. That difference can change whether you return to your accommodation after tennis or finish packing before leaving for the court.
Use the time attached to your reservation. If you have requested an extension, keep the original deadline in the plan until the property confirms the change. Choose a court window that works with that deadline, rather than relying on an unresolved request.
If you are still choosing accommodation, our hotel, villa and resort residence guide considers the wider differences between those formats.
Separate the room from the rest of the resort
Sea Island's published policies, also checked September 18, describe continued use of amenities and experiences for the remainder of departure day after room or cottage checkout. This is a useful example of why leaving the room and leaving the resort are separate planning decisions.
That statement is not a reserved tennis session, a promise of a particular changing room or a claim that every activity is included. Ask the relevant team to confirm the court booking, any charges and which facilities your party may use. For other properties, ask the same questions without assuming Sea Island's arrangement applies.
Give changing and luggage their own appointments
Decide where you will change after playing before you pack the final bag. Ask whether a suitable changing area and shower are available to you at that time, and whether access requires a separate reservation or charge. A facility appearing on a resort map does not answer those questions.
Keep the clothing and toiletries you need together, apart from bags you may leave in storage. Ask the hotel where luggage can be held, how it is retrieved and whether there are any collection arrangements to allow for. These are suggested questions, not claims that a particular hotel provides storage or departure-day showers.
For a family, include the people who are not playing. Agree on one meeting point and who will collect which bags. A short, shared plan can be more useful than several separate messages as checkout approaches.
Work backward from the departure appointment
Start with the pickup time and work back through bag collection, changing, the journey from the courts and the session itself. Ask the transport provider what timing is appropriate for your actual route; this guide does not prescribe an airport buffer.
Sea Island's transportation information, on the same policies page, specifies advance reservations and applicable fees for scheduled transport to airports and other destinations. A court reservation does not make that transport booking for you.
If an advisor is coordinating the stay, add these departure details to your racquet travel brief. Give each item a clear status: confirmed or still to arrange.
Send one departure-day note
A useful final message to the hotel or your travel advisor can cover five items:
- Accommodation checkout time and any confirmed extension.
- Court location, session start and planned finish.
- Confirmed changing arrangements after play.
- Luggage location and collection plan.
- Pickup time, meeting point and transport confirmation.
Leave room to shorten the session if the pieces do not fit comfortably. The final morning can still feel like part of the holiday when its practical decisions have already been made.
